2,000 nails removed from woman's body

BANGI - An Indonesian surgeon made a case for Islamic therapy to complement modern medicine at hospitals by showing rusty nails pulled out from the body of a female patient, supposedly a victim of sorcery.


Dr Sagiran Sukardi, who was speaking at a forum titled "Jinn (genies) and Sihr (sorcery) in Medicine", described how his own understanding of medical practice was challenged while treating the woman.

In the much-publicised case in Sumatra, more than 2,000 nails were removed from 25-year-old Supiyati

"As a surgeon, I could not believe the sickness was caused by Sihr or Jinn," he said during the forum at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). 
Dr Sagiran, of Universiti Muhammadiy­yah Yogjakarta's medical faculty, said Supiyati's condition defied medical logic. 
He showed participants of the forum - 75 per cent of whom were doctors and psychiatrists, and the rest academics and researchers - pictures and X-rays of Supiyati's infected wounds and the nails under her skin. 

The patient was first brought to his emergency room in September 2012.

Dr Sagiran said in the first operation, he removed more than 70 nails from her legs and feet before treating her wounds.

"Surprisingly, a day after the operation I found more nails in the same areas again. At the time, I didn't think sorcery had anything to do with it," he said.

However, he said after consulting his colleagues and religious teachers, he decided to use complementary Islamic therapy to treat the patient.

Dr Sagiran said he started reciting verses from the Quran while dressing her wounds or whenever she was in pain, adding that this caused her to throw up.

"You cannot imagine it but there were even more nails along with hair in her vomit," he said.

Dr Sagiran said Supayati's first husband, who disappeared after she underwent treatment, is believed to be responsible for the sorcery.

He said the case illustrated the need for a holistic approach, including spiritual and religious treatment, at hospitals.
Forum moderator UKM Assoc Prof Dr Supyan Hussin said the organisers were not against modern medicine.

"But Islamic complementary therapy can be used to treat patients whose illnesses cannot be diagnosed," he said.

Dr Supyan said Islamic therapy had nothing to do with black magic or witchcraft which was against Islam.


He said the participants might, through their discussions in the forum which continues today, pass a resolution which would then be sent to the Health Ministry.

5 police being cursed by black magic???

Recently, five Malaysian policemen had a black magic curse sent to them. The curse is known as the "santau katak puru" which literally means "frog knot voodoo" and involves a frog which was placed in the homes of the policemen. If the frog died, the policemen would also die.

It’s quite dangerous to be a policeman in Malaysia. Not only are policemen in Malaysia threatened physically by criminals, they may also fall victim to black magic curses as what happened to five Malaysian policemen recently.

The frightening thing about the black magic curse that befell the five policemen is that the perpetrator didn’t need any belongings from the five men to be able to cast the black magic spell upon them. bomohs catch 12 more spirits

JERTIH, MALAYSUA - Three healers from Terengganu Islamic Foundation (YIT) claim they captured 12 more djinns from the house of Siti Balqis Mohd Nor after she disappeared again on Saturday night.

Her family thought her ordeal was over when two bomoh captured nine djinns on Friday and put them in sealed containers.

Yesterday, however, the 22-year-old, who is the eldest of four children, claimed she was whisked away to a cave about 15km from her home in Kampung Gong Nangka here.

She mysteriously disappeared at 7.30pm, minutes before state religious and information committee chairman Khazan Che Mat, YIT director Kamarul Al Amin Ismail and YIT officials arrived at her home with the healers.

Hundreds of residents searched around the house and at locations that she had been found in previous disappearances but this proved futile.

At 11.30pm, her mother Norizan Said, 47, received an SMS from Siti Balqis, saying that she had been taken to a cave in Bukit Keluang.

Jabi assemblyman Ramlan Ali headed a rescue team to Bukit Keluang but they only found seven men and two women who were meditating (bertapa) inside the cave.

Two hours later, Siti Balqis sent another SMS, saying she had been whisked home but had landed on a rambutan tree.

Siti Balqis was pale and unconscious when rescuers brought her down from the rambutan tree.

The three Islamic medical practitioners said they captured 12 djinns after treating her.

Siti Balqis only regained consciousness at 5am and told her mother she saw Ramlan and other rescuers at Bukit Keluang cave but none of them could hear her calls.

"I even tried to touch Ramlan's wife as she passed by me but she did not see me," she said.

Meanwhile, Khazan said the medical practitioners were sent by the state government to help the family.

I got a feedback for you on the combination 5 amulet I got from you last week.

This is gonna sound really crazy but I felt the amulets vibrating like there was electric current going through them twice since I started wearing from last week. It happens only when I hugged two women (where I live it’s common to hug each other like European style when greeting) anyway first time was at dinner and I hugged a young lady and there was like an electric shock that went through the amulet…like not my imagination but I really felt it strong, kinda weird I thought… Then today I saw a girl that I was in classes with a long time ago and hadn’t seen for a while so I go to greet her and we hugged each other and ZAP!!! I got the current go through the amulets on my chest again as soon as we touch each other. So I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing; both these girls are really nice as far as I know so I don’t know if amulet is protecting me from them or it likes their energy too or what (maybe they are only nice to everyone in public but terrible on the inside)??? But there is definitely a strong power in this one. I feel really good to wear it and feel it’s making a difference.

Can I wear it in my pants pocket i.e ‘below the belt’? There are two amulets of a monk on it so I don’t know if this would be disrespectful but it is somewhat large and cumbersome to have 5 amulet on your chest at once so it would be nice to be able to put in the trouser pocket.

A WOMAN suspects that black magic was used to charm her daughter who has gone missing, reported Harian Metro.

"My daughter used to be obedient and never went out of the house alone. There is no way she would just vanish and leave the family.

"I believe Thai black magic was used on her," said Siti Bedah Hussain, 39, of her 22-year-old daughter Nur Liyana, who disappeared four months ago.

Siti Bedah said her daughter met a 42-year-old man of Thai descent, a friend of her ex-husband, when he frequented her food stall in June. Nur Liyana became friendly with the man, who invited her to work in Langkawi.

"Before this, three other women had followed the man to work in a restaurant in Langkawi, where he works as a cook," she said.

Nur Liyana informed her mother that she had found a job in a restaurant there, but two months later, told her twin sister that she needed to find another job because the restaurant was facing problems.

"I asked my ex-husband to bring her back. He found her in a dangdut club and we believe the man asked her to work there.

"She was brought back home after that but has disappeared again," she said.

SURIN: Sometimes, a cure can be worse than the illness. This was certainly the case for one young man who went to the local temple to perform a ceremony to ward off bad luck, but ended up dying after drinking “blessed water” prepared by the temple abbot.

Twenty-three year old Bunyang Khreuaniam of Khwao Sinarin District on September 30 told his mother that had been warned by someone trained in the arts of black magic that he was in for some bad luck.

Concerned that some wayward spirits might target her son, she took him to Wat Beung Wang Nam Yen to see the abbot about performing a ceremony to ward off any potential misfortune.

The abbot, 56-year-old Luang Ta Yuan, told Mr Bunyang to go home and fast for two days without food or water, then come back for a ritual ceremony.

On October 2, Mr Bunyang duly returned to the temple with his mother, Pleun Khreuaniam, and three other relatives.

Luang Ta Yuan instructed Bunyang’s relatives to fetch some blessed water from the temple that he had prepared beforehand and pour it into a bat (monk’s bowl) and give it to Bunyang to drink.

Perhaps as a sign of its potency, after swallowing the elixir Bunyang promptly vomited. However, Luang Ta Yuan told him to keep drinking until he had downed, and brought back up, three whole bowlfuls.

After Bunyang was done with his cyclical consumption, abbot’s assistant Thiphon Khiandee, 56, brought a Krating Daeng (local version of Red Bull) bottle filled with oil and began to rub it on Bunyang’s body.

As she was rubbing him down, however, he began to spasm violently and lost consciousness.

Worried that something was awry, the onlookers called for help. But by the time help arrived, Bunyang was dead.

After questioning all parties, police took some of the blessed water for analysis. From sniffing the concoction, police said they could smell petrol but didn’t know what else the mixture contained.

Dr Wiriya Laobanthao said that Bunyang probably died from drinking too much of the water, but added that he would have to wait for the results of the autopsy before he could draw any firm conclusions.

Police said they had yet to charge any person with a crime.
