Dhan Chao Khun Nor was a very virtuous person. He was a great example to others and has always been respected and paid homage to by all.
Having finished his studies in political science at the college which later became Chulalongkorn University, he became the closest royal servant of King Rama VI. He also moved to the King's chamber and attended to the King's daily needs. He was later given the name Phraya Noraratana Rajmanit and became a councilor to the King. He served the King loyally and gratefully until King Rama VI died. After the death of the King, Chao Khun Nor was very sad. Despite his worldly status and possessions and the opportunity to seek further progress, he gave up everything and went into the monkhood in 23rd March B.E.2468 at Wat Thepsirintharawas a day before the King Rama VI was cremated in dedication to the late King.
As a monk, he practiced Dhamma and observed the discipline strictly. He did not speak much except to explain Dhamma but he always listened to other monks' teachings respectfully. He practiced advanced Dhamma, devoted all his monkhood life to follow Lord Buddha's teachings, and never missed the morning and evening chant at Ubosoth and also to dedicate merit to King Rama VI until the end of his life. He also showed similar gratitude to his teachers, parents and relatives.
He was in the monkhood for 46 years until he passed away. In his long years of monkhood, he ate only one vegetable and cereal meal a day and never stepped out of the temple even in the WWII period.
In the war time, Bangkok railway main station just few Km away from the temple was intensively bombed by the allied force, but the bombs missed the target and hit the temple. Almost all monks left the temple for safety, but he was still living there.
on Saoha, 22nd March B.E.2512, a reporter took a picture during the chanting of amulets by Dhan Chao Khun Nor, the picture turned out showing bright lights emerged from Dhan Chao Khun Nor 's brush when he sprinkled water from the brush. This had happened many times during the chanting of amulets.
Dhan Chao Khun Nor could detect the thinking and mind of anyone who is speaking to him. He knew what could happen in the near future. He had pre-cognition mind power, and correctly foretold major events including his own death. He well prepared everything before he left this world, by telling his nephew never offer him the food box anymore and also telling the next-room young monk that the day he did not go to chant means the day of his death. Then he went to sleep within a mosquito net, his two hands joined together on his chest; paying the last respect to Lord Buddha. He passed away with that beautiful posture on Friday 8th January B.E.2514.
